WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber

The next World Extreme Cagefighting event is coming up, and it features the featherweight championship bout of Brazilian Jose Aldo and American Urijah Faber. WEC 48 also features the lightweight championship bout of Americans Ben Henderson and Donald Cerrone.

WEC 48: Aldo vs. Faber takes place on April 24, 2010, at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California. This fight will be the pay-per-view debut for the WEC.

Other fights on the main card are:

Featherweights Mike Brown (USA) and Manvel Gamburyan (Armenia)
Lightweights Anthony Njokuani (Nigeria) and Shane Roller (USA)
Bantamweights Antonio Banuelos (USA) and Scott Jorgensen (USA)

The Spike TV Card will feature featherweights Leonard Garcia of the US and Chan Sung Jung of South Korea, and lightweights Alex Karalexis and Anthony Pettis, both of the US.

Then there’s the preliminary card for WEC 48, which sees the following bouts:

Bantamweights Brad Pickett (England) and Demetrious Johnson (USA)
Featherweights Chad Mendes (USA) and Anthony Morrison (USA)
Bantamweights Takeya Mitzugaki (Japan) and Rani Yahya (Brazil)
Featherweights Brandon Visher (USA) and Tyler Toner (USA)

Fighters that you may have heard at one time or another were slated to be part of the WEC: 48 card but that will not be there fighting include Zach Micklewright who was supposed to fight Alex Karalexis; Damacio Page who was supposed to fight Antonio Banuelos; Cub Swanson, who was supposed to fight Chan Sung Jung; and Mackens Semerzier who was supposed to fight Anthony Morrison. Also cancelled was the scheduled fight between Kamal Shalorus and Jamie Varner.
