One of the biggest differences that bettors are sure to find between US based sportsbook sites and UK influenced sportsbook sites are the games that are available to wager on. In the US, the most popular games to watch, play and bet on tend to be baseball, football, basketball and boxing while football (soccer), rugby and cricket tend to be the sports of choice in the UK. Snooker: When looking to place a bet on the game of Snooker, bettors can wager on their favorite player that may be participating in the World Championship, Premier League or the Masters. Depending on the site, either the lines will be in a decimal, fraction or US variation and the lines are very much similar to that of a money line. Most commonly, it seems that the betting is for the outright winner.

Rugby: Bettors have several options when it comes to placing a wager on the sport of Rugby. The options include teams from both the Rugby League and Union in one of several kinds of matches and/or leagues including the Heineken Cup, Guinness Premiership, Super League or World Cup. Bets can be made outright or on several variations including the first scoring play, the team who scores first, whoever had the highest scoring half or wagers on specific players.

Football: Similar to Rugby, punters have tons of options when it comes to placing wager on football. Bets can be placed on one of several US or International leagues and can be outright bets for whoever wins or bets can be made on the exact score of the game, on whoever scores first, over/under or even on halftime scores.

Cricket: When placing a bet on a game of Cricket, bettors can wager on who wins the game outright, what team scores first, on specific Batsman, or on matches and series.

Floorball: Bettors can wager the over/under of the match, on any handicaps or on who wins the match outright.

Handball: The game of Handball can be wagered on the overall outcome of the game, whoever has the best score at halftime or on any handicaps if applicable.

Badminton: Wagers on Badminton are typically wagers on who wins the matches outright.

Horse Racing: Horseracing is popular in both US and UK sportsbooks, but still deserves to be mentioned here on the list. When placing a bet on a race, bets can be placed on who will win the race outright, on who will win 1st, 2nd and 3rd (in that specific order), who will come in first or second (known as ‘show’) or who will come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd (known as place). Several other kinds of combinations known as ‘boxes’ can also be made. When you make a ‘box’ type wager, you are essentially wagering on however many combinations of horses you feel will come in the top two places. You can simply wager on two horses or you can wager on 6 horses (or more) in combinations of 2 with each combination of horses having to place 1st and 2nd for a winning ticket.

As it is plain to see, several UK based sports can be wagered on online. Now, there are other sports that can be wagered on as well on UK based sportsbooks namely American football, basketball and baseball; but the ones we listed above are the sports that will generally only be found on online sportsbooks that do not cater (at all or primary) to the US market.
