PGA Tour Accenture Match Play Championship

Dove Mountain will be hosting the upcoming 2010 World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship of golf, February 15-21.
Part of the PGA Tour, the Accenture Match Play Championship of golf is a single elimination style tournament consider to the be the keystone of the World Golf Championships that consistently attracts the sport’s hottest talents. Since 1999, the Accenture Match Play Championship has been 1 of 4 World Golf Championship events, and is organized and sanctioned by the International Federation of PGA Tours.
As in February’s past, soon the 64 top golfer in the world will tee off on the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club’s new Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course at Dove Mountain in Marana, Southern Arizona, just north of Tucson.
The 2010 Accenture Match Play Championship of golf will take place from February 15 through February 21. The prize purse is more than $8 million.
Geoff Ogilvy enters the event the defending champion (he was also runner-up in 2007), but the top seed pick, and officially first seed as of Friday, February 12, is Steve Stricker. 2008 winner Tiger Woods is notably not on the field for this year’s event. But right there on their heels, keeping them on their game, are their respective runners-up, Stewart Cink (2008) and Paul Casey (2009). Also to watch are Scott Verplank and Kevin Na, who could surprise.
Besides the prizewinning golfers this year (and the online sportsbetting fans who bet on them) winning big, so will The First Tee and other local and regional charities.
