Irish 1000 Guineas

The Irish 1000 Guineas is just about set to take off on the second day of the Boylesports Irish Guineas Festival on May 22 2010. The Irish 1000 Guineas is a flat one mile race for two year old fillies.

Some of the favorites found by oddsters to be the strongest contenders in the race are Lady of the Desert, Lady Darhsaan, and Misheer. The American entry, Lady of the Desert is the favorite to win the Irish 1000 Guineas. She only placed third in her only race this season. Lady Darhsaan the Irish entry comes to the race with one win and three places in her five year runs, however Lady Darhsaan is also considered a riskier prospect, with a tenth place finish in her only race of the year. Misheer is the veteran with a lot of race experience, with three wins and placing or winning five out of eight starts and running two times this year. Misheer is a still a favorite despite finish last early this month.

Any one of these horses could be the upset this year. Eolith is one to watch, unbeatable, two wins from two races over seven furlongs. But Termagant is the one to watch out for in this race, two wins with two races including the win at the Moyglar Stud Stakes.

With the finest fillies from the UK and Europe heading into the Irish 1000 Guineas it is sure to prove to be and exciting race for all.
