Greyhound Derby
May 22, 2010
The quarter finals and semi finals of the most prestigious race in UK, the Williamhill.com Greyhound Derby will take place Sunday May 30th 2010 at Wimbledon Stadium in England. The competition and adrenaline packed racing fever that overtakes greyhound racing fans each year is almost at its peak now. With a two-hundred strong field, the winner of this year’s race has a lot to overcome to win this derby.
The top contender to win the Greyhound Derby is Eye On The Storm, the “Best Newcomer” winner. Fear Zafonic, last year’s runner-up, was previously considered a favorite to win but things have changed, and the greyhound’s chances are now thought to have slimmed. Nambisco has been a big mover this year with the win at the Scottish Derby, this greyhound is one to watch. Bandicoot Tipoki is a fast greyhound who will set the track on fire early but needs some stamina to conquer the whole field. Ten Large Down is a very strong and powerful dog with nine out of fourteen wins, a little bit of a novice and also has to stay out of trouble. Tullymurry Act is another one to watch with lighting speed and 10 finishes in 15 races. Mesdo Blue has shown that he can handle the races, unbeatable at the stakes at Shelbourne. Toomaline Jack won A1 competition at Tralee last summer and two early wins at the Easter Cup really shows some promise.
Anyone of these Greyhounds are capable of taking the title, watching which one is going to be very entertaining and stimulating.
