Cricket England v Pakistan
February 15, 2010
England and Pakistan face off for two matches in Twenty20 cricket next weekend (February 19-20) as part of the 2010 T20 Series.
England is confident, with batting coach Graham Thorpe unshakeable in his assurance at beating Pakistan in their upcoming pair of matches next week, on February 19 and 20 in Dubai. This despite that Pakistan is the reigning world champs.
Part of the Twenty20 series, the anxiously awaited England vs Pakistan matches on February 19 and 20 will take place at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai, UAE (United Arab Emirates). Pakistan won last year’s ICC World Twenty20.
Pakistan is already the favorite, being the defending champions, but the also have the added home court advantage, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi like second homes Pakistan’s cricket team. But without Shahid Afridi, who has been banned for two matches after being found guilty of ball tempering, England has an opportunity to capitalize on an unexpected weak spot in the Pakistani presence these coming matches. Plus, Pakistan recently lost to Australia, which doesn’t have Pakistan cricket fans feeling as confident as they may like to heading into these critical matches.
After this upcoming face-off the next action on the ICC World Twenty20 schedule is the Twenty20 World Cup 2010 in the Caribbean West Indies.
And there’s always plenty of action in cricket with the many One Day International Series Matches coming up over the next couple of months.
Twenty 20 or T20 cricket is a special kind of cricket in which each inning lasts for a maximum of 20 overs, making for a much livelier game of cricket.
